  1. Iqtarabati as-sa’atu wanshaqqa al-qamar
  2. Wa in yaraw ayatan yu’ridhu wa yaqulu sihrun mustamir

  29. Fanadaw sahiba-hum fata’ata fa’aqar
  30. Fakayfa kana ‘athabee wa nudhur
  31. Inna arsalna ‘alayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi al-muhtadhir
  32. Walaqad yassarna al-Qur’ana li-dhikri fahal min muddakir
  33. Kaththabat qawmu Lootin bin-nudhur
  34. Inna arsalna ‘alayhim hasiban illa ala Lootin najjaynahum bis-sahar
  35. Ni’matan min ‘indina kathalika najzi man shakara
  36. Walaqad andharahum batshatana fatamaroo bin-nudhur
  37. Walaqad rawadoohu ‘an dayfihi fatamasna a’yunahum fathooqoo ‘athabee wa nudhur
  38. Walaqad sabbaha-hum bukratan ‘athabun mustaqir
  39. Fathooqoo ‘athabee wa nudhur
  40. Walaqad yassarna al-Qur’ana li-dhikri fahal min muddakir
  41. Walaqad ja’a aala Fir’awna an-nudhur
  42. Kaththaboo bi-ayatina kulliha fa-akhathnahum akhda ‘azeezin muqtadir
  43. Akuffarukum khayrun min ula’ikum am lakum bara’atun fee az-zubur
  44. Am yaqooloona nahnu jamee’un muntasir
  45. Sayuhzamu al-jam’u wa yuwalloona ad-dubur
  46. Bal as-sa’atu maw’iduhum wa as-sa’atu adha wa amarr
  47. Inna al-mujrimeena fee dalalin wa su’ur
  48. Yawma yushaboona fee an-nari ‘ala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqar
  49. Inna kulla shay’in khalaqnahu bi-qadr
  50. Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bil-basar
  51. Walaqad ahlakna ashya’akum fahal min muddakir
  52. Wakullu shay’in fa’aloohoo fee az-zubur
  53. Wakullu sagheerin wa kabeerin mustatar
  54. Inna al-muttaqeena fee jannatin wa nahar
  55. Fee maq’adi sidqin ‘inda maleekin muqtadir

English Translation:

  1. The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].
  2. But if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, “Passing magic.”
  3. And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.
  4. And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence –
  5. Extensive wisdom – but warning does not avail [them].
  6. So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,
  7. Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,
  8. Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, “This is a difficult Day.”
  9. The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, “A madman,” and he was repelled.
  10. So he invoked his Lord, “Indeed, I am overpowered, so help.”
  11. Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down
  12. And caused the earth to gush forth with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.
  13. And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,
  14. Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.
  15. And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?
  16. And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
  17. And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
  18. ‘Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
  19. Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune.
  20. Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.
  21. And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
  22. And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
